And now a word from the UPA...

The Ultimate Players Association wants to hear how local league players feel about the current state of the sport of Ultimate, how the UPA and other organizers are responding, and what’s important to them. Please take about 20 minutes to complete the survey (or the direct link is http://www.surveymonkey.com/s.asp?u=874582698103) and you'll be entered in a drawing for some very special thank you gifts including a brand new iPod Nano, on of two copies of Ultimate: The First Four Decades, or one of five copies of the 2004-2005 UPA College Championships CSTV 3-DVD set.

2nd Annual VYUL Winter Meeting

The new meeting date is Saturday, January 20th, 5-7pm.

SJA LogoThe second annual VYUL winter scheduling meeting will be held on Saturday, January 20th at St. Johnsbury Academy. At the meeting we will discuss Vermont tournaments, how to start new teams, how to expand the league, game scheduling, league policy and much more. A free pizza dinner will be served. If you plan on attending the meeting, please let me know. The meeting will be held in the second story conference room in the Mayo Center Library.

Planning to attend:
Josh Seamon - St. Johnsbury
Peter Johnson - Mt. Mansfield Union
John McKinnon - Spaulding

Note: Anyone who has any interest in Vermont Youth Ultimate is welcome to attend this meeting. This meeting will occur immediately after the St. Johnsbury UPA Coaching clinic.

VYUL Updates:

1) I just posted my first draft of a 2007 Ultimate events roundup. You can view it right here: http://vyul.org/content/view/45/68/

2) I'm looking for someone to host the 2007 Vermont High School Ultimate Champs on Sunday, 5/27/2007. If you have at least four fields and would like to host, let me know.

3) The SJA Tourney Dates have been set. The girls division will run on Sat-Sun, 512-13. The open division will run on Sat-Sun, 5/19-20. The tourney webpage is online at www.vyul.org. Bid information will be available in early December.

4) I'd like to update the team pages with information on every youth team in Vermont. So, if you haven't already, please send me:

Directions:

From the South: Take 91N to exit 20. Merge right on to rt. 5. After 100 yards take the first left up the hill. At the top of the hill make a hairpin left turn into campus (You'll see the Mayo Center on your right). Continue straight, passing the Morse Center on your right. Bear right after the gym and park anywhere in the lot.

From the North: Take 91S to exit 20. Merge on to rt. 2 east. After 1/3 mile (you'll pass the Fairbanks in on your right), you'll come up a hill. Stay straight and you'll come to a T intersection. Colby Hall will be right in front of you. Turn right, and bear right into campus (The Mayo center will be on your right.) Continue straight, passing the Morse Center on your right. Bear right after the gym and park anywhere in the lot.

To the Mayo Center: After parking, walk back to the Mayo Center (right next to the hairpin turn). (Severance is across the street, facing the Mayo Center.) There will be signs directing you to the second floor conference room.

St. Johnsbury is a very small town. Once you're in town, anyone will be able to tell you where the Academy is, and once you're on campus, anyone will be able to tell you how to find Severance. (There will also be a bunch of signs up.)

Reminder: This is a Halloween tournament, costumes are required. Have fun with them! We tried to pick a broad theme so people could play around with it.

2007 VT Champs will be UPA sponsored!

I hope everyone had a great summer!

The only update I have at the moment is that next year the state HS tournament will be UPA sponsored. (Last year it was just sanctioned.) This won't change anything about the tournament except that it makes the event more official and we get more support from the UPA. Cool stuff!

Other stuff I'm working on:

1) A VT coaches/captains meeting sometime in December.
2) Bringing a UPA coaching clinic to VT.
